3d render of the Hampshire extension, showing the timber cladding and oriel window

I’m pleased to share that at the end of last week I received some welcome news – our planning appeal for a timber-clad house extension to a 1960s bungalow in Hampshire was successful. Going to appeal is never ideal, but the client, the planning consultant, and I felt strongly that the design was the right approach.

The Inspector’s key findings validated this: “The proposed use of timber cladding references the treed context… Together with the more contemporary form, these features would add interest and visual appeal.” The decision ultimately found accordance with development plan policies, concluding that the proposal “takes account of and respects the existing design, scale and character.”

John Boardman, the planning consultant, made great efforts to get it across the line. Well done to everyone involved! Looking forward to seeing this start on site in 2026.
