Four villas designed around the rhythm of Caribbean living, where the boundary between inside and outside dissolves.
Each villa is anchored by a distinctive two-storey element housing the bedrooms, its clean gable form a contemporary interpretation of traditional island architecture. From this, a single-storey pavilion extends outward, containing the living and dining spaces beneath a vaulted ceiling of exposed white-painted rafters.
The pavilion acts as a hinge between arrival and retreat. To the front, a shaded colonnade filters the tropical light. To the rear, full-height glazing opens onto timber decking and a private pool. A communal dock provides canal access at the end of the site.
Throughout, the material palette responds to the coastal setting: white rendered walls that reflect the intense Caribbean sun, with rough-cast render to the upper floor creating subtle textural interest through light and shadow. Standing seam aluminium roofing and warm timber accents soften the composition. Pergolas and deep overhangs provide essential shading while framing views of sky and water.
Working with Coast Architects, I developed the initial concept through to planning submission and created the visualisations for the project’s marketing.
